December is upon us and with it so is the end of 2013. Surely, Christmas is one huge highlight of this month (the details of which constitute an entirely different blog) but there is also another event, one celebrated across the planet, that stands sentinel at the end of the year. Yes, we are talking about the ever exciting end of the year and the beginning of the new one.

Having a plan for the New Year is a pre-requisite and cooler the plan, the higher is your rating on the hipster scale. Though we start thinking about this one a few months before it actually arrives, we usually end up at nothing concrete until the last few days as you don’t want anything to go wrong with it and want it to be better than the last few years. So, along with the F&B and a guest list that has a tendency of changing at hourly intervals, comes the most important factor – the venue.
New Year parties have been known to erupt in locations ranging from shady dorms to the best night clubs on the planet earth. The grandeur of the venue is often directly proportional to the budget allocated for the event. But, what if there was a way to ensure that less is more? Apparently, as most metro citizens have discovered, there is a way. This way we are talking about also goes by the name ‘House parties’.

17According to the Wikipedia definition, a house party is ‘typically a type of party where medium to large groups of people gather at the residence of the party’s host. In modern usage, a house party is typically associated with teenage or young adult crowds, loud music and dancing. Historically, the term has also referred to more genteel gatherings at country estates, lasting anywhere from several days to weeks.’
Pubs and clubs with their million and one restrictions have made letting down your hair and partying hard a distant possibility. That, along with the excessive amounts spent on food and alcohol rarely makes such outings worth the money. If the venue is an unfamiliar one, it’s difficult to feel ‘at home’ there and because of these reasons most people are going the house party way.
And who said a house party cannot be compared to the likes of those happening at the best nightspots? Businesses have also noticed the rising trend and have specialized services meant to help you plan, feed, and even clean up after your bash.
So, decide what your 2013 theme is going to be, get that guest list ready to the last guest and welcome the new year right from the comforts of your home and with the people who matter the most. Are you game?

Your social timelines are probably buzzing with people talking about going green – Brands and individuals all the same. Yes! Everyone is talking about going the green route. Rightly so, it is the Environment Month. It truly is mesmerizing to see the large number of people taking a stand on going green and talking about environmental sustainability.

And while a lot of you might actually ask the question – How long after this month will this beautiful path sustain?, you will be truly surprised as to how many individuals have made ‘Go Green’ their motto.

People today are only getting more aware and are spreading of the importance of a healthy and green surroundings. Right from reusing that broken mug to collecting dry and wet waste separately to using less energy; a conscious effort is being made to do things the right way. This practice is followed not just at home but also outside in offices and societies. While many might think that planting a tree in your society or recreating interesting ‘do it yourself’ pieces is something that is only talked about; there are a number of individuals who actually do it.

Organizations and business too have begun to realize the impact of environmental sustainability. This is why you’ll probably hear about office cleaning drives and workshops which educate employees on going green.
At Tata Housing we are doing our best to serve this purpose. We have made it our mission to create awareness of sustainable living, environment protection and ecological conservation. Since all good deeds must start from home first, we have pioneered the concept of sustainable living by developing green homes since 2007.

To spread awareness further, we joined hands with Padma Shri awardee Sudarshan Patnaik who created a beautiful piece of sand art which revolves around the United Nation’s theme for World Environment Day 2014 ‘Raise your voice, not the sea level’.

It is through combined effort of our small activities around environment sustainability that a larger impact will be felt. So, let’s join hands and go green!
